PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1229 PM CDT MON APR 11 2005

VALID 111729Z - 120130Z

...OUTBREAK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS INCLUDING A FEW STRONG TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY THROUGH TONIGHT.

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW STRONG TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY LATER TODAY THROUGH TONIGHT.

THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
CENTRAL AND EASTERN LOUISIANA
WESTERN AND CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

OTHER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH LARGE HAIL...HIGH WIND AND ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE OVER ADJACENT PORTIONS OF THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...AND OVER PARTS OF NORTHERN AND EASTERN KANSAS...SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA...WESTERN MISSOURI AND WESTERN IOWA.

VERY MOIST AIR WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD NORTH INTO THE CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION AHEAD OF A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING EAST FROM WESTERN LOUISIANA. STRONG JET STEAM WINDS ABOVE THE STORMS WILL PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW LONG-LIVED SUPERCELLS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE STRONG TORNADOES...WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WIND AND VERY LARGE HAIL.

THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.
